Advocacy & Case Management
Freedom House advocates support clients in developing a service plan and setting goals to promote safety, independence, health, and well-being. Advocates also link clients to community resources.
Counseling
Freedom House counselors recognize that each client’s journey is unique, and they foster empowerment and healing. Counseling services are available for survivors of all ages as well as for sexual violence survivors’ non-offending significant others. In addition to individual and family counseling, Freedom House also offers group counseling in a variety of settings.
Criminal Justice & Legal Advocacy
The criminal and civil justice systems can be intimidating and confusing. That is where Freedom House legal advocates come in. Legal advocates assist clients in obtaining orders of protection, civil no contact orders, and stalking no contact orders. They also provide emotional support through divorce, family, and criminal cases and give assistance in navigating Crime Victim’s Compensation, Victim’s Economic Security and Safety Act (VESSA), and Automated Victim Notification AVN/VINELINK.
Medical Advocacy
Abuse can happen at any time. Freedom House medical advocates are available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Trained staff and volunteers assist survivors as they complete an initial emergency-room visit, and advocates provide survivors with information and support throughout the process, making referrals to other health agencies as needed.
Substance-Use Support
Certified specialists provide recovery support for domestic violence clients struggling with substance use.
Psychotherapy
Abuse may lead to mental and behavioral disorders. At Freedom House, licensed therapists treat domestic violence clients who struggle with severe depression, chronic anxiety, PTSD, ADHD, and other disorders.
Medication Management
Mental health and substance-use disorders may require medication for effective treatment. Advanced practice nurses will prescribe and monitor medications for domestic violence clients. Medications and monitoring are provided at no cost.
